More Buster-isms :)

At the dinner table last night:

Alex-"Mooooo. Moooooo."

Me-"are you a cow?"

Alex-"no! Mooooooooo I'm a Moooo."

Me--"Well okay then!"

Alex-"Arrrrrrrrr. Pirate!"

Me- "Oh! You're a pirate, huh?"

Alex- "No!!! I'm a PRETEND pirate."

In the car:

Me -"Alex. Guess what? We're going to have a party for Noah!"

Alex- "Why?"

Me- "Well, we're going to take him to church and everyone is going to pray for him. We're going to give him to God."

Alex- "No. No baby Jesus. Baby Noah MY house."

Me-"Oh no! Baby Noah will come home to our house. We're not REALLY giving him to God."

*Mommy needs to remember two year olds are very literal!*

Talking with Pa:

Alex-"What's you name?"

Pa-"Well, actually my first name is Alexander, just like you!!"

Alex-"No. You name Jeff."

Pa-"Ha! Well, you're right!"

Alex- "This is my favorite!" About just about everything these days!

Alex has started saying "I miss you" in place of "I love you." We always tell him that we missed him if he's gone, or if we go to work. I think he heard the love in that phrase and started using it. So even if I've been with him all day (pretty much every day!) he'll sometimes turn to me and say "I miss you!" And it melts my heart. :)

Driving in the car:

Alex- "Meow. Meow."

Me- "Are you a kitty cat?"

Alex- "Nooo! I'm a cat-dog! Meow-ruff! Meow-ruff!"

Buster-isms

--"It's frigid out here!"

--Trying to sing the "Super Why" theme song: "Super God!"

--Having a theological discussion with a two year old:

"Did you know God loves you?"

"Yea. Loves me!"

"Did you know God loves Mommy too?"

"No way! Loves me!"

"God loves Buster AND Mommy. Just like Mommy loves you AND baby brother."

"Oh."

"Jesus come MY house."

"You want Jesus to come to our house?"

"Uh huh! Yea!"

"Well, Jesus is in Heaven with God."

"Where?"

"Well, up in the sky. With the stars." See, there's God, who's the Daddy. Then there's Jesus, who is the son. Just like you are Daddy's son. THEN there's the Holy Spirit. He can live inside of you and be with you ALL the time."

"Where?"

"In your heart."

"Right here? In my belly?"

"Yea. Kinda. Then God is with you all the time."

"Oh."

"Do you remember when you saw an angel in your room?"

"Uh huh. Yea!"

"Angels are from God. God sends them to protect us."

"Angel here now? My room?"

"Maybe. We usually can't see them. But I bet they're here watching us!"

"Oh!" Changes subject :)

---To Noah: "Let's go Baby! Let's go!"

--"I go to school. Mrs. Larry." (His teacher is Mrs. Laird)

Noah :)

My baby boy is growing up! He's officially 9 months old now. Crazy how time flies! He started walking when he was 8 months old. Yep, had to beat his big brother (who walked at 9 and a half months old). He had been standing on his own for a few seconds here or there for awhile. Then one morning he woke up and it was like his balance had just "clicked." He stood for a LONG time, every time I set him down that day. He even bent down, picked up a toy and stood back up. So, the next morning, I decided to see if he would walk. I set him down and he stood there for about 20 seconds, flapping his little arms in excitement. I held up big brother's sippy cup (a BIG enticement because big brother gets juice in his cup!) and sure enough, little booger took 5 steps to get the cup! Ever since then he's walked a few steps at a time, usually when prompted. Yesterday I spotted him taking steps all on his own. He's so tiny and cute :)

He also has started signing. We are teaching him the signs for "more" and "all done." He has done "more" several times now. We can't really tell if he's done the "all done" sign, because the boy loves to wave his arms around!

Noah LOVES his big brother! And the feeling is totally mutual. When these two first see each other in the morning (after a whole 12 hours apart) they just giggle and wrestle on the floor. They get so excited! Alex loves to try and carry Noah and pick him up. He actually does an okay job, but Noah usually falls when he puts him down, so we try to discourage it!

Noah is still nursing several times a day and at night. We're working on sleeping longer stretches at night, but it's just not happening! He is a mama's boy and likes to be close to Mama while sleeping. He is also eating homemade baby food (apples, sweet potatoes, peas, peaches), yogurt, cheerios, graham crackers, and whole bananas. This boy loves his food!

He has yet to choose a real comfort object. He gets super excited about Alex's special blankets, but isn't really attached to his own. I think he likes them because of Alex. We'll keep offering him his special blankets and see if any of them "take."

I think that's all Noah-boy, Bug-a-boo, Bug, Baby boy, Baby Noah, etc has been up to lately!
