Chunky Boy

Alex went to the pediatrician on Monday.  My chunky boy has gained almost 2 pounds in a month!

He was born at 6 pounds, 14 ounces

Dropped to 6, 9 at the hospital

Was 7 pounds even at 1 week

Weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces at 13 days

And then...at 1 month he weighed in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces!

He still is long and skinny, with not a whole lot of chub.  So precious!

Awesome friends and family

We had such a nice surprise when we got home on Sunday, totally exhausted, from the wedding weekend.  Our house was spotless!  Apparently, Danny and Sarah Smoker and my parents came over on Saturday and cleaned our house from top to bottom.  It was incredible!  We got to just come home, relax and unpack.

Thanks a million!  I don't know how we would be surviving without all of your help!  We love you!

Garden pictures

One of our many asiatic lillies.
The hibiscus is taking over the garden!  It is at least twice as big as last year, and it's only June!
This one's a little blurry, but that's the first lightening bug of the summer on Grant's hand.  :)
Some of the day lillies.

All of the guys singing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" to the mothers.
Hmmmm...I think Grant had a good time at his brother's wedding.  Do you??  (The top shelf open bar didn't hurt!)

The past few days

Charlee checking out the baby.

My little wiggle worm ended up in a funky position!  But, he was sleeping, so I let him hang out like that for a little bit!
Visitors!

Ava-Girl holding "Bay Aleh."
As a side note--we had a very sad occurence today.  I found a chipmunk floating in our little pond in our garden.  So sad!  I love the little critters in our yard.  I think we'll have to invest in a screen to keep the rest out.  (I found another one swimming in there a few weeks ago, but I saved him.)

We're off to Detroit tomorrow for Dave and Marie's wedding.  We should have lots of pictures to post when we get back!  Alex gets to meet his Great-Grandma Nanny, cousins, Uncle Dave, etc.  Should be a good time!

More Pictures

Here are some awake pictures of Alex.  Unfortunately, a bunch of them are blurry--he's such a wiggle worm!

Life at Home

Well, we are slowly adjusting to life at home with a newborn.  Alex is doing awesome!  He is a good sleeper and good eater.  When we took him to his one week appointment with the pediatrician, he had already passed his birthweight (6, 14) and weighed 7 pounds even.  We had to take him back to the pediatrician yesterday, (for a goopy eye and a funky belly button-both of which have cleared up considerably in just 24 hours) and he weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces!  He gained 10 ounces in 6 days.  I have a feeling he's going to follow in his cousins footsteps and be a chunker like the Steel boys.  :)

Tomorrow Alex is going to go to school to visit Daddy and meet all of the students.  It's the last day before summer, and the kids waited patiently all year to meet the little guy.  It should be fun!

Here's a face we don't see too often-just when he's hungry or wants to be held.

The camera is finally downloading!!  (It could be that I got a new computer....and the camera likes it better than the old one...)

Here's his sweet little face.

And again...
